About Aetna

Aetna, historically based in Hartford, Connecticut, has been part of CVS Health Corporation since CVS Health completed the acquisition in November 2018. Within CVS Health, Aetna forms the Health Care Benefits segment, which served an estimated more than 37 million people as of December 31, 2025.

Products

  • Commercial medical plans (POS, PPO and other designs), offered on an insured basis or through administrative services contracts for self-funded plan sponsors.
  • Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement and standalone Medicare Part D prescription drug plans.
  • Medicaid plans in selected states.
  • Dental and behavioral health plans.

Aetna exited the individual public exchanges effective January 2026. Aetna Life Insurance Company, a wholly owned subsidiary, holds nationwide NCQA PPO Health Plan accreditation.
