Ameriprise Financial, Inc. (NYSE: AMP) is a financial planning and wealth management company headquartered in Minneapolis. It was founded in 1894 as Investors Syndicate, later operated as American Express Financial Advisors, and became an independent public company through a spin-off in 2005.

Insurance products are issued by RiverSource Life Insurance Company and, in New York, RiverSource Life Insurance Co. of New York. Ameriprise also offers some products from third-party carriers.
