Ameritas is the marketing name for subsidiaries of Ameritas Mutual Holding Company, including Ameritas Life Insurance Corp. in Lincoln, Nebraska, and Ameritas Life Insurance Corp. of New York in White Plains. The company dates to 1887 and, as a mutual-based organization, has no stockholders. It serves about 6 million customers.
