AmTrust Financial Services, Inc. is a multinational insurance holding company headquartered in New York City. Its current controlling shareholders acquired the business in 1998 and expanded it through specialty underwriting teams and acquisitions. AmTrust was publicly traded until November 2018, when a merger took it private; the Karfunkel-Zyskind family retained control, with equity financing from a fund managed by Stone Point Capital.
