Farmers Alliance Mutual Insurance Company (FAMI) began in McPherson, Kansas, in 1888 as a fire insurance company that let local farmers share their risks. Its home office is still at 1122 N. Main, McPherson. The company writes more than $270 million in premium, with farm business making up over 70% of the total.
