About Farmers

"Farmers Insurance" is a trade name for a group of insurers that cover automobiles, homes and small businesses and offer other insurance and financial products. The three primary insurers are Farmers Insurance Exchange, Fire Insurance Exchange and Truck Insurance Exchange; Farmers Insurance Exchange is the largest of them. The group's home office is in Los Angeles, with newsroom datelines from Woodland Hills, California. The exchanges are managed by Farmers Group, Inc., which belongs to Zurich Insurance Group.

Products

Farmers and its affiliates offer auto, homeowners, renters, condo and umbrella coverage, life insurance, and business insurance such as business owners, commercial auto and workers' compensation policies. In some states coverage is written by affiliates such as Mid-Century Insurance Company or Farmers Texas County Mutual.

How it sells

Policies are sold mainly through Farmers agents, who handle quotes, policy changes and claims support.
