About GEICO
GEICO stands for Government Employees Insurance Company. Leo Goodwin established it in 1936, first targeting U.S. government employees and military personnel; today it insures a wide range of drivers. GEICO became a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. in 1996.

GEICO describes itself as the third-largest private passenger auto insurer in the United States, with more than 29,000 associates and 20 offices around the country.
Products
GEICO's core product is auto insurance, along with motorcycle, RV and boat coverage. Through its insurance agency it also offers homeowners, renters, condo, umbrella, life, pet and travel coverage and business policies such as commercial auto, business owners, general liability, professional liability and workers' compensation; some of these are underwritten by partner insurers.

GEICO holds an A++ financial strength rating from AM Best and AA+ from S&P.
