About The Hanover
The company began in 1852 as The Hanover Fire Insurance Company in New York City, changed its name to The Hanover Insurance Group in 1958 to reflect a broader product range, and moved its home office to Worcester, Massachusetts, in 1969. In 2009 it acquired commercial business from OneBeacon Insurance Group, expanding in the western U.S.

The Hanover writes commercial lines for small and midsize businesses, including business owners, property, general liability, commercial auto, workers' compensation, inland marine, management and professional liability and cyber coverage, along with specialty lines. Personal lines include auto, homeowners and umbrella policies. Affiliated insurers include Citizens Insurance Company of America.

The Hanover Insurance Company is rated A by AM Best and S&P and A2 by Moody's.
