About L&G

Legal & General was founded in June 1836 by six lawyers. Today L&G describes itself as a leading UK financial services group and major global investor, with Asset Management, Institutional Retirement and Retail divisions.

Products

L&G provides workplace and individual pensions, annuities, life and protection insurance, pension risk transfer (buy-ins and buyouts) for defined benefit schemes, and investment management. Its Retail customer base reached 12.4 million by 2025.

United States

In 2025 L&G sold its US protection business to Meiji Yasuda, supporting its goal of growing US pension risk transfer and global asset management.
