NN Group became independent in 2014, but its history goes back to 1845, when two cousins founded the fire insurer De Nederlanden van 1845 in Zutphen; the Nationale Levensverzekering-Bank followed in 1863. Head office: Schenkkade 65, The Hague.

Under the Nationale-Nederlanden brand, NN offers life, pension, non-life (home, motor, liability), health and income protection insurance, banking and savings in the Netherlands. The group also has insurance businesses in other European countries and in Japan.
