QBE's story began in October 1886, when James Burns and Robert Philp founded The North Queensland Insurance Company in Townsville to insure marine risks. QBE Insurance Group Limited is now an international insurer and reinsurer with a local presence in 26 countries, headquartered in Sydney and listed on the ASX.
