About TAL
TAL describes itself as one of Australia's leading life insurers, protecting people for 150 years. It is part of the Dai-ichi Life Group, whose founding company, The Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company, was established in 1902 as Japan's first mutual insurance company. Products
TAL offers life insurance, total and permanent disability (TPD), trauma and critical illness cover, and income protection. It sells directly, through financial advisers (for example Accelerated Protection) and as group insurer for superannuation funds. Former BT, Westpac and St.George life policies are now branded TAL.
Claims
In the past year TAL paid $4.7 billion in benefits to 57,000 customers and their families, with living-insurance claims making up 75% of all claims paid.
