About The Hartford
The Hartford's story began in 1810 in Hartford, Connecticut. The company insured Yale University in its early decades and, in 1861, Abraham Lincoln's home in Illinois. Its publicly traded parent, formerly The Hartford Financial Services Group, now appears as The Hartford Insurance Group, Inc. (NYSE: HIG).

The Hartford focuses on business insurance for small, midsize and large companies: business owners policies, general and professional liability, workers' compensation, commercial auto, property and cyber. It also provides employee benefits such as group disability, life and paid family and medical leave, and mutual funds. Personal auto, home, renters and pet coverage is offered mainly through the AARP Auto and Home Insurance Program.
