About Berkshire Hathaway
Berkshire Hathaway Inc. is a publicly traded holding company with its corporate office at 3555 Farnam Street, Omaha, Nebraska. Insurance is one of its largest activities, alongside railroads, utilities, manufacturing and retail. Its corporate roots go back to New England textile companies.
Insurance operations
Berkshire's insurance businesses include GEICO, a direct writer of private passenger auto insurance; a group of primary insurers that write commercial lines such as property, liability, workers' compensation and professional coverage (including Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance); and reinsurance businesses that provide capacity to other insurers worldwide.
Leadership
Warren Buffett led the company for decades. Berkshire's website now publishes annual shareholder letters written by Greg Abel as well as the archive of Buffett's letters.
How to contact
Because of its small staff, the corporate office cannot respond directly to web inquiries. Policyholders should contact the operating company that issued their policy, for example GEICO for auto insurance. Shareholder reports and SEC filings are posted on berkshirehathaway.com.
